Meet and greet our friendly Egyptian fruit bat colony and feeding experience
The Nocturnal House experience is an unforgettable 45-minute adventure that takes you into the fascinating world of night-dwelling creatures. Your journey begins with the Egyptian fruit bats, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to hang out fruit kebabs, allowing you to get up close as these agile creatures swoop down for a treat. As you feed them, you’ll learn all about their behaviour, diet, and the vital role they play in their ecosystem from your knowledgeable guide.
The experience continues as you meet the quirky and intriguing naked mole rats. These unusual, almost alien-like creatures are known for their complex social structures and surprising resilience. You’ll gain insights into their unique adaptations and the scientific interest they hold.
Lastly, the encounter wraps up with the Pygmy slow loris, a small, nocturnal primate with large, captivating eyes. You’ll discover fascinating facts about their slow-paced lives, their endangered status, and the conservation efforts being undertaken to protect them.
Throughout the experience, expert keepers provide fascinating commentary, answering your questions and deepening your understanding of these extraordinary nocturnal animals.
Over 10 years old only: £75 + £50 per additional adult (max. 2 people)
- Participants must be 16 years old or over to participate on their own.
- *Participants over 10 years old must be accompanied by a full paying adult participant (over 18 years old)

I was bought this experience as a gift and I can honestly say it is one of the best gifts I have ever had! The experience was so much fun and the keepers were so knowledgeable and friendly. To be able to be that close to the bats while they ate was amazing and it was so interesting to see a bit of the behind the scenes of the animal park. It really demonstrates how hard all the staff work! I cannot recommend this experience enough. My love of bats has been increased even more by having the privilege to be so close to this amazing species! The naked mole rates and pygmy slow loris was an wonderful end to the tour. I booked the Nocturnal House Experience at Shepreth Wildlife Park as a birthday surprise for my partner, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience.
The experience itself was fantastic — we got the chance to feed fruit bats, Pygmy Lorises, and even Naked Mole Rats! It was fascinating to be so up-close with animals you don’t often get to see, let alone interact with.
