African Sands Experience:

Meet and feed our friendly tortoise family and three different species of turaco!

The African Sands Experience is a delightful 30-minute encounter that immerses you in the vibrant world of African wildlife. This experience begins with the feeding of the park’s sulcata and leopard tortoises, two of the largest and most impressive tortoise species on the continent. You’ll have the chance to observe these gentle giants up close as they enjoy their meal, learning about their fascinating behaviours, unique adaptations, and the challenges they face in their natural habitats.

Next, you’ll be introduced to three different species of turaco, known for their striking plumage and lively personalities. As you feed these colourful birds, you’ll be captivated by their vivid feathers and the melodic sounds they make. The expert keeper will share insights into the turacos’ diet, behaviour, and the important role they play in their ecosystems.

Throughout the experience, your knowledgeable guide provides engaging commentary, enriching your understanding of these remarkable African species. The African Sands Experience offers a memorable opportunity to connect with wildlife, making it perfect for animal lovers and those curious about Africa’s diverse fauna.

Over 8 years old: £50 + £50 per additional person (max. 4 people)

• Participants must be 16 years old or over to participate on their own.
• *Participants over 8 years old must be accompanied by a full paying adult participant (over 18 years old)

Animal Encounter Experience includes:

• Entrance into the Wildlife Park (no separate admission ticket required)
• Certificate awarded

Booking your experience:

• You have the choice to book your experience date at the time of purchase, or you can order a 12-month gift e-voucher.
• If you wish to book a date at the time of purchase, please follow the instructions on this page.
• Alternatively, you can purchase a gift e-voucher with 12 months validity, which is emailed to the purchaser of the voucher within 5 working days of receipt of your order. If you wish for this e-voucher to be sent to a different email address, please specify this in the Notes section at checkout.
• The email containing your e-voucher will also include information on how to make a booking within the 12 months.
