Celebrate Tiger Day with us on 4th August 2019
Now in it’s 15th year, Tiger Day was originally started in celebration of the birthday of our tiger, Amba.
Sadly Amba is no longer with us, but we want her legacy to live on! So we will continue to celebrate Tiger Day in memory of her each year on 4th August.
Next month SWCC (Shepreth Wildlife Conservation Charity) will host a tiger party from 10am – 4pm for all wildlife lovers and tiger fans!
Have your cake and eat it at 3pm – when Amba’s memorial cake will be revealed. But before this event enjoy a host of activities from a magic show at 12.30 and animal encounters, where visitors get to meet and greet resident animals, to auctions, drama with the Young Actors Company and win your chance to enter the tiger enclosure and hide the meet for our new Sumatran girls, Kelabu and Ratna.
We also have the pleasure of hosting an expert panel of speakers including entomologist – Dr Greg Dickens, wildlife photographer – Tal Chohan and WildCats Conservation Alliance’s Esther Conway. We are also excited to be the last stop for the charity ‘For Tigers’, completing their epic 9 mile walk from Cambridge dressed as tigers!
This popular annual event has a mission and this is to raise much needed funds to help support and save the last few remaining wild tigers left on the planet. And so for every teddy tiger bought or auction pledge received, SWCC will raise much needed funds for WildCats Conservation Alliance.
To date, Tiger Day has helped us to raise over £60,000 for wild tiger conservation – saving wild tigers from extinction. This year’s event will be supporting projects in Sumatra.
